MECHANICAL DESIGN

As a team of 4 second-year undergraduate students, we represented students of mechanical engineering at the University of British Columbia in an interdisciplinary engineering competition. The claw machine utilizes IR sensors to control the dispenser and hydraulics to operate the claw. Being the least experienced team in the competition, the claw got 4th place out of 14 teams.

SUSTAINABILITY

The holder provides a sustainable alternative to one-time-use plastic bags. It consists of two fabric layers for slight heat insulation and two pattern options. The holder is able to adjust to cups of various size and shape due to the laced feature. It can even adapt to straight bottles as shown in the pictures. Since the holder is two-sided, the extra pockets can accommodate straws to promote sustainability.
